During the years when many people left the countryside for the cities, my father also left the land to follow a more profitable path. But as soon as he was able, he returned to his old passion and bought the first nucleus of buildings that form today's San Gimignano estate. When I completed my education in 1986, my father thought I would be suited to work in the main estate office. But my genetic make-up would have none of it: I longed to work on the farm where I could transform something through my own efforts. So I chose to work full-time in the winery cellar, and involved my husband in this adventure. We transformed two beautiful farmhouses into holiday accommodation, identified some of the best-suited vineyards for making a top quality Vernaccia di S. Gimignano and then... we let ourselves be convinced to buy a farm in Montalcino, Podere Bellarina, and one in Seggiano near Grosseto, Pian de Cerri.
In 2008 we decided to buy more vineyards at San Lorenzo, San Gimignano, where we have 12 hectares, bringing Palagetto's total to ..... of vineyards and .... of olive groves.
I don't know whether DNA will win again, and my children will carry on the family passion - they are still too small to tell, but for now they love to be involved in the running of the farms, which is a good sign!
